Drainage Capability

Services From Fixture Branches to Building Sewers

The correct service depends on which fixtures are affected, where the restriction is located, available access, piping material, system condition, and whether the problem is isolated or building-wide.

Branch Drain Clearing

Selected clearing for localized fixture or area drain restrictions when suitable access is available.

  • Kitchen and laundry branches
  • Bathroom fixture branches
  • Accessible floor and area drains
  • Condition-based recommendations

Main Sewer Clearing

Mechanical clearing through an appropriate accessible cleanout when symptoms indicate a main-line restriction.

  • Multiple affected fixtures
  • Building drain or sewer stoppages
  • Accessible cleanout service
  • Post-clearing observations

Sewer Camera Inspection

Visual observation of accessible piping to help identify visible conditions and guide next steps.

  • Accessible main-line viewing
  • Visible roots, offsets, breaks, or buildup
  • Approximate location when equipment allows
  • Repair-planning support

Cleanout Installation

New or improved access points for service, inspection, and future maintenance based on site conditions.

  • Exterior soil locations
  • Concrete or hardscape areas
  • Interior access by scope
  • One-way or two-way arrangements

Sewer Line Repair

Focused repair of damaged or failed sections when conditions support a localized solution.

  • Broken or separated piping
  • Root-affected sections
  • Failed transitions and fittings
  • Excavation and access planning

Sewer Replacement

Planned replacement when condition, material, layout, repeated failure, or access makes broader work appropriate.

  • Building sewer replacement
  • Underground route changes
  • New cleanout integration
  • Testing and inspection by scope

Branch Drain or Main Sewer?

The Pattern of Symptoms Helps Identify the Starting Point

The symptoms do not always identify the exact cause, but they help determine what access and equipment may be appropriate.

Possible Branch-Drain Symptoms

  • One sink, tub, shower, or area drains slowly
  • A nearby fixture gurgles during use
  • The problem stays within one room or fixture group
  • Other plumbing in the building continues operating normally
  • Access may be through the fixture, trap, or local cleanout

Possible Main-Sewer Symptoms

  • Multiple fixtures are affected at the same time
  • Lower fixtures back up when upper fixtures discharge
  • Toilets, tubs, showers, or floor drains respond together
  • Water appears at an exterior cleanout
  • Service generally requires suitable building-drain or sewer access

What a Camera Can—and Cannot—Do

Useful Visual Evidence, With Real Limitations

A sewer camera is an observational tool. It can show visible conditions inside an accessible pipe, but it does not guarantee detection of every defect or prove future performance.

Can help show: Visible roots, standing water, offsets, breaks, corrosion, buildup, connections, and accessible pipe layout.
May be limited by: Active blockage, dirty water, turns, pipe size, inaccessible cleanouts, collapsed piping, or equipment reach.
Does not independently prove: Exact depth everywhere, soil condition, code compliance, remaining service life, or every concealed defect.
Best used with: Symptoms, service history, clearing results, accessible observations, locating data, and site conditions.

From Stoppage to Solution

A Practical Drain and Sewer Process

1

Review Symptoms

Identify affected fixtures, timing, recent work, system history, and known access points.

2

Confirm Access

Locate a suitable fixture opening or cleanout and assess site or occupancy conditions.

3

Clear or Inspect

Perform the authorized service and observe how the system responds within equipment limits.

4

Recommend Next Steps

Discuss maintenance, camera inspection, cleanout work, focused repair, or replacement when appropriate.

Do Not Ignore the Pattern

Signs a Drainage Problem May Need More Than Repeated Clearing

Recurring Stoppages

Repeated blockages in the same section may point to pipe condition, layout, roots, buildup, or another persistent cause.

Standing Water on Camera

Water that remains in a gravity line can indicate belly, offset, restriction, grade, or downstream conditions requiring context.

Visible Root Intrusion

Roots often enter through an existing opening or failed joint; clearing growth does not repair the entry point.

Broken or Offset Pipe

Mechanical clearing may restore limited flow without correcting a separation, collapse, missing section, or severe offset.

No Proper Cleanout

Poor access can make service less effective, increase risk, and limit the ability to inspect or maintain the system.

Aging Materials

Cast iron, clay, Orangeburg, ABS, PVC, and transitions can fail differently depending on age and site conditions.

Drain & Sewer Questions

Helpful Information Before Scheduling

Does every sewer clearing include a camera?

Not necessarily. Camera work depends on scope, access, line condition, whether flow has been restored, and the authorized service.

Can a camera see through a blockage?

Usually not. Grease, debris, sewage, standing water, roots, and collapsed piping can obstruct the view or prevent travel.

Can you install a new sewer cleanout?

Yes, depending on location, pipe depth and material, excavation, access, concrete or hardscape, permits, and restoration responsibilities.

Do you provide 24/7 sewer service?

Not currently. Requests received after 6 PM are reviewed the next business day. Avoid using affected plumbing when continued use could cause an overflow or property damage.

Before we arrive: Stop using affected fixtures when possible. Tell us which fixtures are involved, when symptoms began, whether sewage or water is overflowing, where cleanouts are located, and whether similar problems have occurred before.

Restore Flow. Understand the Cause.
